O'Donnell, The Ruin of Education in Ireland and the Irish Fanar.

O’Donnell, F. Hugh. The Ruin of Education in Ireland and the Irish Fanar. Third Edition. London, David Nutt, 1903. 16 x 23cm. (23), 202 pages. Original brown clothbound hardcover with gilt lettering. Some bumping and scuffing to corners and edges, otherwise in good condition, text clean and binding firm.

Frank Hugh O’Donnell was an Irish politician and journalist, known as a fierce opponent of British imperialism and the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland. He was a provocative and popular figure within the Home Rule League. In Parliament he often spoke on British imperialism in India in analogy with Irish matters. He spent much of his later career campaigning for secular and mixed education in a series of determined sallies against the political might of the Catholic clergy. [OU]
