Father Bede Jarrett (1881-1934) became Prior Provincial of the English Dominicans when he was only thirty-five and during the years that followed he had a deep and lasting influence on Catholicism in England. Among his best known achievements are the founding of the Dominican Missions in South Africa and of the Oxford Blackfriars. His writings on Christian spirituality have been widely read by both Catholics and non-Catholics.
