Maxwell Steinhardt ((1890 – 1977) was an American lawyer and an avid book collector.
An admirer of George Bernard Shaw, Mr. Steinhardt was president of the Shaw Society of America. He was also active for many years on the board of the Hebrew Technical Institute and had been treasurer of the American Council for Judaism.
Mr. Steinhardt graduated from Harvard in 1910, and Harvard Law School in 1913. He served in France in World War 1 as an Army captain and afterward practiced law privately in New York City for more than 30 years.
