Printed in red and black with numerous Tables and Illustrations. [*8, +8, A8-O8, P10, Q8-Kk6, 16]. Fine red morocco with elaborate gilt decorations on both boards and spine. Crest of Cardinal Prospero Collona (1662 – 1743) on front and rear board, topped by tasseled cardinal’s hat. Six raised bands. All edges gilt (with added red decorations). Dentelles. Green and gold decorated end papers. A unique binding – please review images. Very good condition. Binding rubbed and bumped with small material losses to spine ends and corners. Provenance: Prospero Colonna (November 27, 1662 – March 4, 1743) was a Roman Catholic cardinal. He is also known as Prospero II Colonna to differentiate him from his elder relative cardinal Prospero I Colonna (1410-1463). He was Installed as Cardinal-Deacon of Sant’Angelo in Pescheria in 1739. Participated in the 1740 Conclave that elected Pope Benedict XIV.
