As part of the Centenary Celebrations, in a Ceremony on September 28, 1949 Field Marshal Alanbrooke was installed as Chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast. Consequently he conferred honorary degrees to a variety of people including General Sir Alan Cunningham, the younger brother of Admiral of the Fleet Lord Cunningham, who served with Alanbrooke as part of the Combined Chiefs of Staff during WW2.
