Late Garter Principal King at Arms. To which is added, Exact Catalogues of the Bishops of the several Dioceses, to the Year 1717. The whole corrected, and supplied with many Useful Additions, by an Eminent Hand.

With 104 Plates (1-103 with two Plates numbered 101), of which 16 Plates are folding. New (2025) brown half leather over marbled boards. Black spine labels with gilt titles. Gilt decorations. Marbled end papers. Please see images. Very good condition. New binding and end papers. Edges dust dulled. Very few small library stamps. Ocassional mild foxing / darkening. Otherwise internally very clean. A very nice copy.

First Edition. Dublin, Printed for Luke White, 1786. 26 x 22 cm. This copy lacks the folding map, title page and list of subscribers ! Pages ix-xv [Introduction], 18 numbered Plates, pages xvii-xxiii [A Concise Account…], 820 pages, (10) [Index & Errata], two blanks. Contemporary olive green morroco. Hard cover with gilt and blind decorations. Marbled edges and end papers. Good condition only, due to the lack of the folding map, title page and list of subscribers. Map and title page are included as facsimiles (losely inserted A4 Prints). Binding rubbed and bumped. Edges age darkened. Binding tender with front hinge cracked. Front free end paper and first blank coming lose, but still attached. Names of previous owners inscribed on Introduction page. Name of Author also inscribed on Introduction Page. Small libary stamp (see image). Internally a little dust dulled, but otherwise clean. A very good reading / research copy of this scarce item.

Small material losses to boards (see images). Sound binding. Edges dust dulled. Ex Libris on front paste down by the ‘Hon.ble Simon Butler (see comments below). Ex Libris on rear paste down ‘Menlough [Castle]. Gift inscription on top of title page. Some burn damage to top first few pages, incl. Map and Title Page, not affecting images or readability. His Annals of Ireland from the first Conquest by the English, a great part of which is now first Published, together with a Chronological Account of the most memorable Events continued from the Reign of Queen Elizabeth to this present time. 3. His Commentaries of the Prelates of Ireland from the first Planting of Christianity there, to the year 1665: to which is now added a Continuation therof to 1704; and a Catalogue of all the Chancellors and Provosts of Trinity College, Dublin, from its Foundation; together with the present Fellows. 4.
