Volume 1 also contains a Portrait of the Author and a folding Facsimile Sample of his Handwriting. Uniform half calf over marbled boards. Raised bands and red morroco spine labels (some missing). Black and gilt decorations to spine (see images). Brown end papers. Very good condition. Rubbed and bumped. Dust dulled throughout. Minor material losses to some corners / spine ends. Two spine labels missing. Some damp staining to some volumes.

Also included is a folded facsimile page showing the author’s handwriting in 1810. Contemporary dark green morocco over marbled boards. Gilt decorations and title. Marbled end papers. All edges gilt. Very good condition. Minor shelf wear, rubbing and bumping. Neat gift inscription on verso of front free end paper, dated 1858. Occasional mild foxing, otherwise bright and clean. A very nice copy with attractive plates in an attractive and sturdy binding.
