With 131 Illustrations and upwards of 2,600 Facsimiles of Plate Marks. Original green cloth with gilt decorations and title on spine. Dark end papers. Very good condition. Binding rubbed, bumped and damp stained. Edges and end papers age darkened. One corner cut of front free end paper. Gift inscription in ink: ‘T.K.E.Lees from M.W.M. & G.B. Portman With very best wishes April 11th 1907’. Some pages uncut. Occasional foxing throughout.

Provenance: From the library of Sir Thomas Evans Keith Lees, 2nd Baronet (1886-1915). Later from the Library of Sir Alan Francis Brooke, Field Marshal Alanbrooke, 1st Viscount Alanbrooke.
Sir Thomas Lees, 2nd Baronet was the first husband of Benita Lees, nee Pelly. He died in 1915 during WW1. Benita Lees married Alan Brooke in 1929 and later became Viscountess Alanbrooke.
