Top edge gilt, fore and tail edge deckle. In original decorated dust jacket. Very good condition in good dust jacket. Minor shelf wear, rubbing and bumping to corners, boards and spine. Binding dust dulled and faded. Edges and end papers dust dulled. Very faded inscription from Peter Scott to Alanbrooke (?), signed Peter and dated 3rd November 1935. Text mostly unreadable. Signed and numbered (199) by Peter Scott. Occasional mild foxing. Internally clean. Dust jacket worn and age darkened. Minor paper losses to top of spine. Now in protective jacket.

Peter Scott (1909 – 1989) was a British ornithologist, conservationist, painter, naval officer, broadcaster and sportsman. He worked together with Alanbrooke in various conservation societies.
Scott was knighted in 1973 for his contribution to the conservation of wild animals. He had been a founder of the World Wide Fund for Nature, founded the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (November 1946), and was an influence on international conservation. He received the WWF Gold Medal. and the J. Paul Getty Prize for his work.
