Very good condition, other than mild shelf wear to dustjacket edges. At the time of Feng’s publication, John Wain was Professor of Poetry at Oxford. The introductory notes describe the poem as an epic version of the Hamlet myth. Power is its central theme and Wain writes that “since I have lived through an age in which raving madmen have had control of great and powerful nations, the theme naturally seems to me an important one”.
