Decorated title page. Full Calf and marbled end papers. Marbled edges. Good condition. Calf boards rubbed and worn. Corners and spine bumped and worn. Outer joints started to crack, but still holding. Spine worn with some loss. Spine paper label partially missing. Front hinge broken. Label ‘De La Bibliotheque – 1785’ glued to front pastedown. Marbled end papers and edges faded. Pages age darkened. Some browning and foxing to some pages. Foreword page (Avant-Propos) torn and repaired with a piece of paper stuck on. Despite the wear, this is still a nice little book to hold. Louis-Charles Fougeret of Monbron (1706 to 1760) was a French author. A great traveler, Monbron he wrote ‘The Cosmopolitan or the Citizen of the World’ (1750): “The universe is a sort of book, of which only the first page has been read when one has only seen his country.”
