Thomas Mann’s Confessions of Felix Krull was first published by Fischer Verlag in 1954 as Bekenntnisse des Hochstaplers Felix Krull. This is the first British edition, published a year later in 1955. It is a parody of Goethe’s autobiography Poetry and Truth, particularly in its pompous tone.
