Manuscript Music Book. Unpublished. Before 1889. 30 x 23 cm. 20 pages of handwritten music scores – stapled. Plus one losely inserted page of music scores. Decorated blue cardboard covers. Soft cover. Very good condition. Rubbed and bumped. Some fading and discolorations. Name of previous owner on front cover: ‘A.M. Poore’. Provenance: From the Library of Sir Alan Francis Brooke, Field Marshal Alanbrooke, 1st Viscount Alanbrooke. These books originally Anna Maria Pelly, nee Poore (1868 – 1939), mother of Benita Blanche Pelly, Alanbrooke’s second wife. Anna Maria Poore married Sir Harold Pelly in 1889, so her music copy book most likely precedes this year.
