This work covers nine Russian writers including Tolstoy, Goncharov, Dostoyevsky, Chekhov, Bunin and Babel. A scholar of comparative literature in the European tradition, Poggioli’s areas of expertise encompass literary historiography, the theory of the avant-garde, the notion of modernity, decandence and barbarism, Russian literature, and Dante. His daughter Silvia is European correspondent for National Public Radio. A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket.

Dust jacket dust dulled and showing some edgewear and mild fraying. Edges and end papers age darkened. Tipped in letter by Colonel J.F. Barrington, Honorary Secretary of the Mountain Artillery Dinner Club, to Field Marshal Alanbrooke. Internally in fine condition, bright and clean.
