Faint remnants of a fore-edge painting [Newstead Abbey, Seat of Lord Byron]. Good condition. Binding rubbed and bumped, age darkened and mildly stained. Edges and end papers dust dulled. Fore-edge painting faded (see images). Front and rear hinge cracked. Closed tear to top of front free end paper; repaired by clear tape. Neat gift inscription to front free end paper, dated 1873. Faint damp staining to frontispiece. Internally clean.
