With a frontispiece. Green cloth with gilt title and decorations on front board and spine. Top edge gilt, other edges deckle. Good condition. Some water damage to rear board and rear end papers / hinge. Rear free end paper loose. Minor rubbing and bumping. Edges and end papers dust dulled. Gift inscription on front paste down: ‘Benita Pelly, With very sincere good wishes [J. Phelps?] 16 September 1913’. Internally bright and clean.

Benita Blanche Pelly (1892 – 1968) was the daughter of Captain Harold Pelly, 4th Baronet, Pelly of Upton and Lady Anna Maria Pelly. Wife of Alan Francis Brooke, 1st Viscount Alanbrooke, KG and Maj. Thomas Evans Keith Lees, 2nd Baronet Lees.
