This is the first scientific treatise on the subject of economics. Inspired by Smith and Ricardo and others and transcends the prior attempts of understanding this modern subject. Marshall was a Professor at Cambridge University and a fellow of Baillol college at Oxford. He lived from 1840 to 1924.
The Eighth edition is the final and definitive edition of Marshall’s economic classic, which was first published in 1890 and offers the first full exposition of Marshall’s theoretical position. Very rare in the dust jacket. Keynes described its publication as inaugurating “the modern age of British economics” (Economic Journal, 1940). Schumpeter writes that “Marshall’s great work is the classical achievement of the period, that is, the work that embodies more perfectly than any other, the classical situation that emerged around 1900” (History of Economic Thought, p. 834).
